The Lebanese
Cooperative for Development (LCD), under the leadership of the
late Reverend Father Youakim Moubarak
and his laymen was founded in February 1992 at Antelias,
Lebanon.
A WORD
FROM THE PRESIDENT
A Cooperative of assistance for the refugees: the reality
and needs.
Dear Friends,
Lebanon has suffered from the continuous immigration of its nationals and mostly the Christians to many parts of the world where they have established big and important communities.
It was with that in mind that inspired late reverend Father Youakim Moubarak and his associates, the Founding Committee, to establish the Lebanese Cooperative for Development.
The main objective of the Cooperative was to prevent the Lebanese Christians from immigration. It was believed that the best way of achieving this objective was to help the Christians morally and materially to remain attached to the rural areas to which they belong and where they and their ancestors lived for long.
In
fact this is what the Cooperative is trying to do, with emphasis
on the Lebanese and mainly the Christians to stick to their land
by establishing socio-economic balance among the Lebanese from
different communities across the whole country.
This certainly results in the social solidarity of the
impoverished public and the private sector, and decrease the
impact of the long and painful civil war that the country
sustained.
The Cooperative is now made up of 333 donors members; it is through the solidarity and generosity of the members that the Cooperative extended to loans standing at US$ 5 831 506 - as at end of December 2009 to worthy causes that can help in attaining above objective.
We have done well so
far but that is not sufficient; we need to do more, so each
member has been requested to contribute once, to an amount of
US$ 2.000; and we need also the assistance of friends who
believe in our cause. We need the assistance of each internet
site visitor. We also expect everyone of you to talk to members
of his family, friends and colleagues about the objectives of
our Cooperative and try to convince them to join us, as the more
members we have the more it increases our ability to aid and
finance new projects.
LCD’s Internet site has finally become a reality. Through
this site you can find more information about the Cooperative.
This information will be constantly updated to keep our visitors
abreast with latest developments.
Friends, in the name of the LCD, its members and supporters, I
wish to thank you for visiting our site and for helping us to
achieve the Founders Objectives that remain dear to all of us.
Fouad El-Khazen, President
A word from the Vice-president
With LCD’s objectives in mind, we must realize the importance of solid growth. Today, we stand as 333 patrons, but we should grow to be more than a thousand.
All the Lebanese areas are in need of funds to generate profitable projects to reintegrate Lebanese into their land.
It is true that, thanks to LCD, many projects were made possible and we are proud to prosper. But many more projects will be made possible with your decision to become a member.
Help us reach all of LCD’s objectives.
Samir Abillama, Vice-president
